I Heart Roadside Assistance Almost As Much As I Heart My Friends

Today, I had plans. But of course the car conked and I spent my one child free morning sitting on a berm waiting for my car to be towed. I have fab friends who saved the day. One who lent Jesse her husband to help remove the faulty alternator and their car so he could get a new one, one who gave me a ride to pick up Monkey, one who volunteered to keep Monkey indefinitely and drive her home in case I wouldn't be able to pick Monkey up, one who listened to me complain about my day, and one who when I had to cancel babysitting her little one tomorrow because I won't have a car said "no problem. call me if you guys need to get more parts. or a ride anywhere." These are all separate people. Can you see why no one in this family is crying that we aren't moving?

Nakameguro

Here's a NYTimes article about one of our old stomping grounds, Nakameguro. I really just discovered it right before we left because my friend Michelle lived in that neighborhood. We could ride our bikes through Ebisu to the Meguro river and then ride along it to Nakameguro.

The shops lining the river were super quaint and fun. I can't wait to make it back.

Dinner and a Movie

I'm in charge of our anniversary this year, so I've been doing a little scoping of the internet. I don't know why it's taken me so long to take charge because I get to do what I want to do. So, we're going to sushi. J went to this place a couple of years ago with one of his classes. The one that I was so jealous of because they went out to eat once a week at a different place. He came home each week and I'd grill him on where he went, what he ate, what he liked, etc. This place was one that he thought we should go to again. I went to restaurants.com and got a $25 gift certificate for $7.50. I'm thinking of getting some movie tickets with our credit card points. I know that for everyone else dinner and a movie is blase. For us, it's quite novel. Looking forward to April 21st and our 8th anniversary!!

Gimme some money!

So our Mermaid has her Jogathon next week. She is supposed to solicit donations for her school. I'm hitting up all of you. You can donate per lap or a flat amount. Yay for public schools!

Good News, Bad News

Good News- I'm back blogging. It's been awhile and I have no excuses. I just have to go under the radar every once in awhile.

Bad News- J didn't get offered one of the jobs.

Good News- J didn't get offered one of the jobs! We get to stay in socal where my eldest thinks it's FREEZING in the morning!

More Good News- J won a dissertation fellowship for the spring quarter. He won't have to work. But...

Bad News- He will have to finish in December. As in PhD in hand by winter break. Which isn't really bad news. It's just... busy news.

Good News- Since we know we're going somewhere in January/February, Jesse put a whole bunch of stuff up on Craigslist and sold 2 bikes. We got rid of a whole bunch of stuff in the kids room, and we can't wait to get rid of more. Yay!

And as soon as my pictures upload, I'll actually post some.
